Aromatherapy

Are aromatherapy oils the same as essential oils?

Sort of. Essential oils are fragrant liquid substances extracted from plants. Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils for wellness.

Is Aromatherapy safe?

Safety in aromatherapy is tricky, because it isn't a yes or no answer. The truth is, some essential oils are more safe than others, and different people react in different ways to different essential oils. Some essential oils aren't safe during times like pregnancy, while breastfeeding, taking certain medications, or certain health issues. It's best to do research through reputable sources, or consult a qualified aromatherapist, who can provide insight and advice on use. If you have questions, please feel free to fill out our contact form on our homepage, we'd be happy to answer if we can!

Where does aromatherapy work?

There are a few different ways to apply aromatherapy. When applied on the skin, it can have a direct effect on the area it was applied to. When inhaled, it can have an effect on your mood (inhaling the scent) or lungs (inhaling steam), depending on which method of inhalation is used. We do not recommend ingestion or neat use of essential oils without consulting a qualified aromatherapist.

Artisan Soaps

What should you do if soap gets in your eyes?

First, make sure your hands are clean, by washing them thoroughly with soap and warm water. Next, remove contact lenses if any are being worn.

Flush out the eye, or eyes, for up to 15 minutes with warm water, stopping every few minutes, to see if the eye has been thoroughly flushed out. There are several ways to do this:

1. Stand in the shower, and let warm (not hot) water cascade onto your forehead and into your eye, on a low-pressure setting. Do not tilt your head backward, and try to keep your eyes open for extended periods of time, while you are flushing them out.

2. Bend over the sink and turn the faucet on. Keep your eye area under the running water while tilting your head to the side, so that warm water can flow into your eye.

3. Bend down over a sink. Use a pitcher or glass of warm water to pour into the eye or eyes slowly, with your head tilted to one side. Do not tilt your head backward.

4. Fill a pan with water and dip your face into the water while blinking.

5. If you are helping a child to flush out their eye, gently hold their eyelid open while the water flushes it out. Keep calm so that the child remains calm as well.

Does Wicked Sniffer soap contain lye?

Since we handcraft our soap from scratch, it does contain sodium hydroxide (lye) during the soap-making process. However, our finished bars of soap do NOT contain lye. Mixing together sodium hydroxide (lye) with fats (oils) and bringing it to an emulsion and finally, "trace", creates a chemical process where all substances in the mixture turn into a new product- soap! We also use sodium hydroxide in amounts that are considered safe for soap making. Lye has been used in soapmaking for years and is perfectly safe, and necessary, to make soap.

My bar of soap feels too big in my hands! How can I fix this?

At Wicked Sniffer Aromatherapy Co, we strive to create a generous, valuable product so you can get the most for your money. As a result, some of our bars of soap are quite large. To remedy this, simply use a large, sharp kitchen knife (with extreme caution at your own risk!) to cut your bar of soap into smaller, manageable pieces. You could also use the pieces in multiple locations, too!

Will my soap melt in the shower/bath?

At Wicked Sniffer Aromatherapy Co, we create our own soap recipes and make them from scratch. We choose the right ingredients to ensure our bars are rock hard and long lasting. Like with all soap, if it's left to sit in a puddle of water, it will become softer over time. We highly recommend keeping your bar dry in between every use.

What can I do if my bar of soap becomes soggy?

Stop using your soap and place it in a dry, airy space for several days- several weeks (depending on the severity of sogginess.) Soap is made with liquid, so when it sits in water it absorbs it. After being made, it goes through a curing process during which water evaporates from it. If your soap absorbs a bunch of water, it needs time for the water to evaporate again.

Do you make custom scented soaps?
